From Mumbai Airport T2 (8 km · 25–35 min)
Exit Arrivals, open Ola/Uber and search "IIT Bombay Main Gate, Powai" — cabs drop directly at the gate. Typical fare ₹200–350. From CST / Dadar — the Central Line route (45–60 min · cheapest)
- Board any Central Line train towards Kasara/Karjat/Thane.
- Alight at Kanjurmarg — the nearest station to IIT Bombay, 3 km from the gate.
- Take a metered auto-rickshaw from the station to "IIT main gate": ~10 minutes, ₹40–60.
Total cost ₹60–110. Skip the 8–10 AM and 5–8 PM crush with luggage — trains are packed.
From Andheri (Western Line side) — 20–35 min
Cab via JVLR (Jogeshwari–Vikhroli Link Road) straight into Powai, ₹150–250. On weekends the Aarey Road route is often quicker.
From Thane — 25–40 min
Two good options: Central Railway to Kanjurmarg (just 4 stops, then the ₹40–60 auto) or cab via the Eastern Express Highway, ₹180–300. During peak hours the train usually wins.
From Bandra / South Mumbai — 40–60 min
Cab via BKC → Eastern Express Highway → Powai, or JVLR from the western side; ₹300–500. After 9 PM the roads clear and this becomes a smooth run.
From Ghatkopar / Vikhroli — 15–25 min
The closest suburbs: cab up the Eastern Express Highway or JVLR, ₹80–150. Coming by Metro Line 1? Alight at Ghatkopar and take a cab from there.
